Open Daily: 9am - 4pm.
The Painted Tree is located within the award-winning Northcliffe Information and Visitor Centre, a co-location facility also incorporating the local library, Community Resource Centre and the Northcliffe Visitor Centre. The gallery's windows overlook the entry to the Understory - Art in Nature trail, with a scenic panorama of forest and garden providing an interesting counterpoint to artworks on display.
The annual program of exhibitions is varied, featuring works by:
- local artists and craftspersons
- visiting artists in residence
- regional and metropolitan artists
- touring exhibitions, such as those from:
- the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries
- Art on the Move
Artworks that explore and celebrate aspects of local and regional identity or the natural environment are given priority.
The gallery is managed by volunteers from the 'not for profit' community group, Southern Forest Arts.
Southern Forest Arts appreciates the efforts of staff and volunteers from the Northcliffe Visitor Centre who support gallery operation through various tasks, including customer service and sale of artworks.
All operational and promotional costs for the gallery are covered by revenue generated through Understory. Southern Forest Arts receives no funding support for the gallery.
The gallery is available for hire to artists and community groups at very reasonable rates as an exhibition venue or short-term function centre.
